Statement

Over the past year and a half I have really got into the style of the photographer Carey Primeau and Henk Van Rensburg. I have studied their techniques and have tried to incorporate that into my work with the use of contrast and colour but I have also added my own techniques to give some sense of originality. I have learnt numerous styles and techniques from my chosen artists such as layering, contrast and colour replacement etc that I have portrayed in my work.

I am a very visual person and enjoy creating eye catching and detailed images. I want someone to view my work and really study the detail within the image but also the history behind it, that is why I chose abandoned photography so that I could capture something that is old and worn down and present it in a new and artistic way.

I want to take photography at degree level because Photography is an extremely
strong passion of mine. I enjoy going out to new locations and finding new ways to better myself as a photographer. There's just something about taking a great picture that excites me. Sometimes I surprise
myself with what I can produce as I set out to achieve one thing and in some cases I've achieved
something brand new that I didn't know I could do. With photography I'm always learning and
maturing which only makes me a better photographer. I am a very critical about my work and everything has to be accurate from the tonal aspects to the composition of the image.

In conclusion photography is something I have always wanted to pursue as a hobby and a possible career. I believe that if given the chance I can make my dream a reality and by working extremely hard produce work of the highest standard. I’m not one to let such a brilliant opportunity pass me by without putting up a fight and for every knock back I receive it only makes me want it more.
